Athletic Bilbao striker, Inaki Williams, has described his team’s 2-0 victory over Fenerbahçe as a significant result.

The Spanish side triumphed over the Turkish club on Wednesday night, with the Ghanaian international scoring both goals in the 5th and 45th minutes.

The win has solidified Bilbao’s position at the top of their Europa League group, accumulating 16 points from six matches while remaining unbeaten in the competition.

Reflecting on the match, Williams emphasized the difficulty of securing such a result in Turkey. “The truth is that coming to Turkey and getting this result is very positive for us,” he stated. “We are happy that thousands of fans joined, and we hope that you have enjoyed today… because it has been tough. It couldn’t work out better. I think that in the end, going 2-0 up always weakens the opposing team.”

He also praised the team’s overall performance, acknowledging the challenges of playing in a hostile environment. “We knew that coming here to Turkey was going to be complicated. I think the team has played a great game in general,” Williams added.

With eight goals across all competitions this season, Williams will aim to maintain his outstanding form when Athletic Bilbao faces Alaves in a Spanish La Liga clash on Sunday.
