The player who has been a top performer in the Israeli Premier League this campaign, is hoping for the moment that he will play for the Black Stars following his scintillating form at Maccabi Petah Tikva.
Maccabi Petah Tikva midfielder Elvis Sakyi is eyeing a possible call up into the senior national team, saying he will “gladly grab” that opportunity should the technical handlers of the team place it before him.
Sakyi, 24, has been in top form this season for ‘The Luzons’ in the Israeli top-flight League, featuring in 14 out of 16 matches.
The talented defensive midfielder who can also play as a right-back speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, said he’s enjoying his performance in the league and hopes his solid form earns him an invitation by Ghana coach Akonnor for the upcoming 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
” You know that every player wants to play for his country and for me, I have been playing active football in Europe for the past three seasons moving from one country to another country. I am waiting for a callup to serve my nation so if the opportunity comes why not, I will gladly welcome it,” said Elvis Sakyi.
”We are doing very well in the league and I am playing in every game which has caught the attention of some European clubs.”
Galatasaray youth player whose style of play has been likened to Real Madrid star Luka Modrić, however, failed to mention the exact clubs who are monitoring for a possible transfer move.
Sakyi who featured in Maccabi Petah Tikva’s 2-1 Premier League win over Ashod on Saturday will be hoping to start for his team when they travel to Hapoel Haifa on Tuesday.
