Former Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku, has rubbished calls by a section of the club’s supporters to management to hire an expatriate coach and fire current interim gaffer Johnson Smith.
According to the former management member, it would only be suicidal to sideline Johnson Smith who is gradually sharpening the team since he took over from Maxwell Konadu to bring in an ‘overhyped foreign coach’.
He believes Smith is doing well and should be encouraged and supported massively to enable him to deliver for the Porcupine Warriors.
”It will be suicidal to drop Johnson Smith for another coach. He is on the right path, should he be given time he will deliver,” Sarfo Duku told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
”There have been over-hyped coaches in Kotoko who couldn’t achieve what he’s doing. I don’t know if they want a ‘big name.” Duku added.
The former Karela United guided the Fabulous lads to record a 1-0 win over Inter Allies on Wednesday to move to the top four in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
