Exciting to watch’ Aduana Stars midfielder Elvis Opoku says ‘unity’ will play a key role in the Ghana Premier League Champions African campaign next year if they want to make huge impact on the continent’s football.
He believes with Unity the Ogya lads can pull surprises in their second African campaign.
Opuku who recently extended his contract with the Domaa based outfit after emerging as one of the best midfielders in the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League has been with the ‘Ogya’ lads for three (3) seasons now and has virtually grown to become a household name on the lips of many Ghanaian soccer enthusiasts.
Opoku, whose performance caught the eyes of several footballing scouts both in Ghana and from the foreign world had Asante Kotoko being one of the potential candidates to land his signature which he snubbed.
In an interview with Accra based Hot FM on what he thinks can help to stimulate his side’s performance preparing to participate in next year’s CAF Champions League, the highly talented enforcer said “is only unity that can definitely help us go far in African. As there’s an adage which says united we stand but divided we fall,” he said.
“The season under review was cool even though last season was no exception, the preparation we had going into this season’s league was extraordinary and no wonder it played-off with us winning the league after we came very close to winning it last season”
Quizzed why he fail to join FA Cup Champions Asante Kotoko Elvis added ‘’It wasn’t my decision not to sign for Kotoko. It was the management of Aduana who noticing am a born and breed Kumasi- Santasi guy and breaking us from camp can trigger in me signing for Kotoko refused to break us from camps,”.
“I am okay with my new contract at Aduana because comparing my previous contract to that of the one I signed recently l think it is okay.
‘’If you look at the world’s current financial difficulties as we all know, with preparations to Africa also pending, not to talk of the financial loads placed on the shoulders of bank-roller Nana Agyeman Badu ll won’t even allow me to demand much from the team. So l will say am okay with my latest contract”
