Former Ghana number 1 Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda believes Ghana can win the next African Cup of Nations title.
The Black Stars haven’t won the prestigious title for almost 39 years. The four-time African champions managed to reach the finals of the 2010 and 2015 tournaments but lost the titles to Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.
”Ghana can win next Afcon,” Dauda told Hello FM in Kumasi.
”I remember we came close in 2015 but we were unlucky, Ivory Coast won it. This time, it is possible that we can win it. Let’s pray and sees what God will do for us.
The Legon Cities FC captain says he believes the players invited by head coach Charles Akonnor come with nothing but a winning mentality, something he says could help the country end its 38 years trophy drought at the next AFCON.
”As a player, I think if those invited go in with a winning mentality, it’s possible that we can win the trophy,”
Ghana currently atop Group C of the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers with six points and will host Sudan in the third round of the qualifying games later this afternoon at the Cape Coast Stadium.
