Dutch giant AFC Ajax Amsterdam Manager, Erik ten Hag says it will be very unwise for Kudus Mohammed to play for Ghana at the next AFCON in Cameroon next month.
The Red and Whites outfit coach believes the player has not had enough game time and is without rhythm to play for Ghana at such a tough tournament.
If it is up to tenHag, Mohammed Kudus will not play at the Africa Cup in the new year. The club does not want to give him up to play for the Black Stars who aim to end their almost 40-years wait for a trophy.
has The 21-year-old Ghanaian playmaker has been struggling with injuries for a year and a half and trainer Erik ten Hag therefore considers it very unwise for the footballer to play such a tough tournament without a match rhythm, he said on Wednesday evening after his side’s victory over Fortuna Sittard.
Kudus has only made six appearances this season due to an ankle injury and broken ribs. Last season, Kudus struggled with a meniscus injury and played only 882 minutes in 22 matches.
“I think it is very unwise for Kudus to play such a tough tournament without any match fitness”, the Ajax Amsterdam Manager stated.
Kudus is a very important player for Ghana and his absence at the next AFCON could have a telling effect on the Black Stars performance at the tournament.
