Ghana football Association Executive council member, Frederick Acheampong has described veteran coach JE Sarpong “wee smoking” allegation against local players as a serious issue and must be called to substantiate with evidence.
Sarpong had alleged that majority of Ghanaian players smoke Indian hemp , and went on to give instances where FA chairman the late Ben Koufie had to get Indian hemp for black stars goalkeeper the late Robert Mensah ahead of a game before he kept the post.
But Fred Acheampong believes the former Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars coach must be summoned to prove his allegation.
“It’s a serious matter because some of these comments are serious and he can’t make such comments without any prove because I think it’s a serious matter he needs to prove it with evidence” Fredrick Acheampong told Starr Sports.
“Apart from football aspect, he can’t just make those comments and go free, he needs to substantiate or back his claims with evidence, numbers, statistics, figures because apart from the fact that it may amount to substance abuse in the football circles, it’s even illegal to trade in marijuana in the country so where do the players get them to buy ”he concluded.
