Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has revealed that Argentine legend Javier Zanetti was his role model in football at a signing event at the Inter store in central Milan.
Renowned for his work ethic, versatility and sheer elegance, Zanetti is regarded as one of the best midfield players during hay days with the Nerazzuri.
Having spent nineteen years in the Blue and Black shirt, Zanetti hanged up his boots before taking up a role on the club’s board.
Asamoah, who joined the San Siro outfit in the summer as a free agent after ending his six-year stay with rivals Juventus, revealed that the 45-year-old was his football idol.

“I like the fans, my teammates and the staff, they make me feel at home. Milan is a beautiful city.”
How did you feel in your debut at the Meazza?
“It was very exciting to go on the pitch at the San Siro as an Inter player, the fans are fantastic.”
How much desire do you have to play the Champions League with Inter?
“The desire is always there in all matches, playing the Champions League is beautiful, it takes you around the world.”
How do you find yourself under Spalletti?
“I feel very good!”

“Yes, a lot, Inter is one of the best known teams in the world”
What is your favorite position in the field?
“I do not have a favourite position, it depends on Spalletti and I will play where he tells me to play”.
