Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong has revealed that he was shocked when he heard an interest for his services from German Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen during the winter transfer window.
The 20-year-old enterprising right-back who joined the BayArena side on a four-year contract from Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC, says he was completely startled when the German club came calling for his signature as a youngster.
”The first time I heard about Leverkusen interest, it was a shock to me because I came from no man’s land,” the former Manchester City youth star told German sports Magazine Kicker ”The Champions League is still our goal. We are doing everything we can to achieve that,” he added.
Despite featuring for the Netherlands U17, U19 and U20 national youth teams, the Dutch-born youngster remains eligible to play for the Black Stars.
