Italian Serie A club Genoa have officially announced the arrival of Swedish-born Ghanaian international Joel Asoro on loan from English Championship side Swansea City in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old, forward who was born in Sweden to Ghanaian parents, moved to Swansea from Sunderland in July 2018.
He returned from loan at FC Groningen in Dutch Eredivisie last season and has signed a three-year contract with the Rossoblu.
Asoro who has represented Sweden at the Under-21 level arrives at Genoa on loan with an obligation to buy next summer with conditions, after having contributed three goals in 17 appearances for Groningen last season.
“Genoa CFC announce that they have signed Joel Asoro,” a statement on the club’s website read. “The team’s new striker was born in Haninge, Sweden, on April 27, 1999.
“He arrives from Swansea City AFC on loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions. He signed a deal until June 30, 2023.”
Asoro, 21, joined the Swans from Sunderland in the summer of 2018 and has made 18 appearances for the club, the most recent of which came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Newport.
He spent last season on loan with FC Groningen in Holland, scoring twice in 15 outings for the Eredivisie side.
