Black Stars striker, John Antwi scored the only goal for Egyptian side Pyramids FC in their first leg CAF Confederation Cup preliminary game against Al-Ittihad Tripoli on Tuesday afternoon.
The visitors, who were losing finalists in the competition in the 2019-20 edition played beautiful football on the afternoon against their Libyan opponents.
The first half was greatly dominated by the Egyptians but they failed to make it count as there were no goals in the opening 45 minutes of the match.
In the 56th minutes, that is 11 minutes into the second half, Antwi opened the scoring to put Pyramids in front when he Ahmed Tawfiq’s cross and converted beautifully to make it 1-0.
There were no goals again in the game after Antwi’s 56th-minute strike as the Egyptian top-flight side secured a vital first-leg win in the prelims of the 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup competition.
The Ghanaian was the top scorer for the Money Bags in the Egyptian Premier League last season when he became the foreigner with most goals in the Egyptian club competition.
