Joseph Esso! The name rings a familiar bell in your ears, right? The same player who scored three goals in 14 games for Hearts of Oak last season has ten already.
You’re not day-dreaming, the same Esso who struggled for goals in the Rainbow Colours is lightening the Ghana Premier League with mouth-watering performances, but this time at a middle table team, Dreams FC.
With his reportedly failed move to Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC and ending up at a ‘small club’ as Dreams FC, many wrote him off before the start of the season but the determined forward has made many pundits ‘eat a humble pie’ just half way through the campaign.
The 25-year-old attacker, Esso’s name is once again on the lips of many football fans but this time for only the right reasons without any ‘BUT’ when he’s mentioned among conversations in the Domestic Football League.
The unbeaten run of Dreams FC was ended by Chelsea in Berekum but Hey! Didn’t Dreams FC bounced back in style at Dawu when they hosted Obuasi Ashantigold?
The eight games unbeaten run with five wins and three draws? Yes that was greatly influenced by the forward Esso who was very consistent with his goal-scoring this campaign to make the dreams of Vladislav Viric a reality.
Four wins out of five games in the month of February, was some good achievement by the Club but where would they have been without Esso’s goals?
Esso! The man of goals and the face of Dreams FC has banged in ten goals this season in the Ghana Premier League half way through the season.
With Esso’s goals this season, Dreams FC have moved from being a midtable or relegation contenders into Title Challengers after sixteen rounds of matches.
The 25-year-old has played 14 matches this campaign and after scoring 10 goals already one would wonder if finally, the striker has found a good form that could make him the top scorer in the league by the end of the season.
But with what he’s done so far at Dreams, there’s no doubting of Esso’s goal-scoring prowess and one would only wish the attacker well for the rest of the season.
Hopefully, Esso will be able to transform his form in the Ghana Premier League to help the Black Stars to secure qualification to the next AFCON.
