Ottawa South United Goalkeeper’s Coach Les Escobar has heaped praise on Black Maidens Goalkeeper Kayza Massey saying the youngster is an ”amazing” athlete.
The International keeper Academy program coordinator in an Exclusive interview with Sportsworlghana.com from his base in Ottawa, Canada, said the 16 year-old Kayza shows maturity in understanding the game and has the potential to be great in future.
“Kayza is a fantastic Goalkeeper. She is an amazing athlete for her age and shows maturity in understanding the game that you don’t see often in a player or keeper her age. Kayza has a natural ability for the position and has the potential to be great. Escobar told Sportsworldghana.com.
Asked whether Kayza has the potential to be one of the best female Goalkeeper’s in the world, Escobar said he believes Kayza has all the tools physically and mentally to be one of the best in future.
“From a coaches’ perspective she is extremely coachable and has all of the tools physically and mentally to fulfill that potential. You can see her love for the game each time she steps onto the field; regardless if it is training or a game.
Escobar added: Her success so far is a result of her drive and I do believe that she wants to be the best. I have seen her dominate in her age group and also against some of the strongest players in the Canadian University system.
Kayza Massey was Ghana’s first choice Goalkeeper at the Fifa U17 women World Cup in Jordan last year.
