Richard Okyere, a highly-rated teenage midfielder from Kenpong Football Academy, has commenced trials with the youth setup of Danish club Sønderjyske.
Okyere departed Ghana on March 28, 2025, to showcase his talent in Denmark, with reports indicating that several European clubs are monitoring his progress.
A versatile and tactically astute midfielder, Okyere is known for his creativity, vision, and technical ability—qualities that could see him make a strong impression in European football.
At a send-off ceremony, veteran coach JE Sarpong praised Okyere’s professionalism and urged him to uphold the discipline instilled by the academy. Kenpong Academy’s Technical Director, Jonathan Setodji, expressed confidence in Okyere’s potential for a successful career abroad, while Belgium-based trainer Emmanuel Asante also shared his optimism about the youngster’s abilities.
Kennedy Agyepong (Cappuccino), the academy’s Chief Executive Officer and a prominent businessman, has played a pivotal role in building relationships with club executives across Germany, Belgium, Norway, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Croatia—efforts that have bolstered the academy’s reputation. His vision is to establish Kenpong Football Academy as a leading institution in Ghana and Africa through significant investments in player development.
Okyere’s European trials come on the heels of Bossman Debra’s recent permanent transfer to Norwegian club Stabæk, further underscoring the academy’s growing track record of producing talent for top leagues.
According to academy officials, Okyere is set to undergo further trials in Germany, Belgium, and France once his stint in Denmark concludes. These opportunities are being coordinated by former Black Stars goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey, who serves as Kenpong Academy’s European liaison.
With additional player transfers—both loan and permanent—expected in the coming weeks, Kenpong Football Academy continues to expand its footprint in European football.
