The people of Keta in the Volta Region, will in the coming years get a new Sports Stadium Torgbui Gobah Tengey, has confirmed.
Keta about 48 years ago had a big Park called Keta Landon Park which served foreigners and the people of the Volta region for sporting activities.
According to Torgbui Gobah Tengey, the Municipal Assembly has already secured a land in Keta for the construction of an Ultra modern Astro turf Sports Stadium.
But for the Novel Covid-19 pandemic, the sod cutting and construction would have started three months ago.
The stadium according to Torgbui Gobah Tengey, will have a handball court, basketball court, table tennis court, among others.
“Yes, It’s true Keta will get a new stadium, about six months ago I wrote a letter to a friend of mine about Keta Landon park that had been destroyed by sea erosion 48 years ago and he has accepted to help us construct a new one,’’ said Torgbui Gobah Tengey
‘’I quickly organized a meeting with the MCE for keta, Hon Godwin Edudzi Effah, Torgbui James Ocloo V, chief of Keta, Mama Tokormi, the Queen mother of Keta and Divine Kwadzo Dzokoto also known as Kwadzo Baba in my palace in order to meet the philanthropist one on one for the construction of the stadium. Thankfully, we were able to meet the philanthropist at his residence to have his assurance but due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, we haven’t done the sod cutting and to start the construction works”
Torgbui, however, didn’t give any specific date for the commencement of the sod cutting and the construction of stadium.
The stadium will be constructed close to the Keta Midwifery and Nursing training college adjacent to the Keta market square in the Keta Municipality.
Meanwhile, Torgbui Gobah Tengey says he is also in talks with the chiefs in Keta to help start the construction of fence wall on the land.
