English defender of Ghanaian descent Kevin Adom Lokko has been voted by the supporters of the National League side as the player of the season.
Lokko, who is also the skipper of the team pulled six more votes than Ricky Modeste to win the laurel which was sponsored by the fans at the 2019/2020 end of season award.
The towering centre-back featured in 29 league games for the Kent-based club and netted four goals as the season was suspended because of the Coronavirus pandemic with Dover Athletic lying 12th on the table.
The 24-year-old who was born in Whitechapel in England started his career at Norwich City before going on to play for Colchester United, Welling United, Maidstone, as well as Dagenham.
Lokko joined Dover Athletic on a permanent deal in the summer of 2018 after impressing on a loan deal with them and has so far made 79 appearances scoring ten goals and providing one assist.
His contract with the Whites expires on June 30, 2020 and talks have already begun for extension though Graphic Sports understands that League 2 clubs Port Vale, Walsall, and Cambridge United are all after his signature this summer.
At the international level,Lokko was called up to the English C national team in May 2017 and played against Panjab on May 28, 2017 and Jersey FA on May 30, 2017. He is still eligible to play for Ghana as the English C national team is not recognized by FIFA as it is for only non-league club footballers.
Due to his versatility and standing at 6 feet four inches tall, Lokko has often been also deployed as a holding midfielder to cover the back four.
