Accra Hearts of Oak were beaten 1-0 at Medeama SC during midweek of the Ghana Premier League and the team of Kosta Papic is now placed 11th on the league table.
The Phobians were unbeaten in five games in a row starting from the 2-1 win at King Faisal through the 6-1 demolition of Bechem United to the away draw at Berekum Chelsea.
But Hearts of Oak have not been the same side after the derby lost against Great Olympics and the reality is staring Papic right in the face and things needs to change. For a team that is bidding to win the league title for the first time in more than a decade cannot be losing big games in a row. Something needs to be done and Papic is the first toa acknowledge that.
The six points they have lost in the last two games had a great impact on the team’s position on the league table as the Phobians were targeting the Top 4 but now they have slipped down the standings to 11th. That is serious.
Hearts of Oak next game is against Legon Cities and they will seek to bounce back to winning ways but that game at the Accra sports stadium will be interesting as Cities are also unbeaten in their last three games.
