Asante Kotoko coach C.k Akunor has praised his players for their impressive display in the 2-1 win over Coton Sport de Garoua in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Akunor, who is pleased with the teams qualification to the group stages of the competition hailed the playing body for adhering to his tactics.
“We went to Coton Sport with an idea of trying to win the match before the second leg because we have seen them in their previous match and we thought it wise to go there and win,” he said in a post match interview.
“The idea we had worked for us. The boys were fantastic, unbelievable, especially in the first half and today it was for us to continue with the management. We needed to keep the ball than we did in Cameroon,” he added.
“The first half was good, the second half was good. It was an impressive performance,” he concluded.
The Porcupine warriors leading 3-2 from the first leg wrapped up the tie by scoring in each half of the game.
Captain Amos Frimpong converted from the spot stayed composed to put Kotoko ahead from the spot on the stroke of halftime after a foul on Burkinabe striker Songne Yacouba in the vital area.
Maxwell Baakoh, doubled the lead in the 53rd minute with a brilliant effort.
The Cameroonian side, grabbed a consolation goal through Oumarou Sali in the 86th minute.
