Black Stars Defender, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu has waded into the performance of the Portuguese Coach in what has been a blistering performance in his second coming to the West African nation.
Mariano Barreto left the shores of Ghana in what was described as a shocking move after he had started the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign on a bright note in what eventually earned the Black Stars their first World Cup birth in Germany.
Seventeen years on, the Portuguese gaffer has returned to the country as the boss of Kumasi Asante Kotoko. The ex-Dynamo Moscow assistant Coach has been more than impressive to the fortunes of the Porcupine Warriors which has seen them maintain the top spot of the league.
Kotoko Defender, Ismail Ganiyu has showered praises on the coach touting his management skills as one of the best he has ever come across, the inform defender believes the Portuguese coach understands every player in the team and is very easy to get the best out of the team as he understands the game very well.
In an exclusive interview with SportsworldGhana.com, the defender opined he clearly thinks their boss is more of a manager than a coach.
“Coach Mariano Barreto is a manager not a coach I think he understands every player’s individual capabilities, and it’s kind of let’s say easier for players to understand what he wants and what you are to do when you are giving the chance is not like we are been forced or trying to just make something extraordinary he understands the game much and he knows what each and every player can do so he tries to just add a little bit to it to give you the confidence to give your best.” said the Black Stars defender.
