Asante Kotoko have received a total financial package of GH¢180,000 following their dramatic 2-1 victory over Golden Kick FC in the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup on Sunday.
The final, staged at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon, saw the Porcupine Warriors lift their 10th FA Cup title. Kwame Opoku opened the scoring for Kotoko, but Bless Ege pulled Golden Kick level with a brilliant free-kick just before the break.
The decisive moment came late in the second half when Kotoko were awarded a controversial penalty, which Opoku calmly converted to seal the win for coach Abdul Karim Zito’s side.
FA Cup Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur, speaking on Sporty FM, confirmed that Kotoko will receive GH¢80,000 as prize money for winning the tournament. In addition, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has allocated an extra GH¢100,000 to support the club’s participation in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
The combined amount is intended to assist Kotoko in their preparations for continental competition, as they aim to make a strong impact on the African stage.
