Asante Kotoko won 2-1 over Karela United on Wednesday to collect their 56th point of the season after 30 games as Hearts of Oak who play on Thursday against Legon Cities remain on 53 points.
The game which was played at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium was full of events. Emmanuel Gyamfi struck the first goal in the 21st minute to put Kotoko ahead after Evans Adomako’s earlier effort was ruled offside.
Richard Berko equalized for Karela in the 60th minute but Fabio Gama converted a 74th minute penalty to win the game for his team.
Hearts of Oak know that a draw against Cities will not even be enough to come at par with their biggest opponents ahead of the match of the season on Sunday.
