Communications director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kwaku Ahenkorah has accused a session of the Asante Kotoko players of engaging themselves in politics at the club, something he describes as being denigratory to the Red and White family.
Kwaku Ahenkorah speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Abusua FM said ’’ It surprises me why a committed player of the Fabulous family will ‘wash the club’s cloths outside’ with the thought that airing his feelings would solve his problems with management of the club’’.
Michael Akufo who was once Asante Kotoko midfield engineer recently described the current management of the club as being ‘wicked’ when he claimed they have not treated him fairly after his return from Lebanon.
He cited monthly salary arrears which have not been settled as reasons why he believes they have been ungrateful to him having served the club wholeheartedly over the years.
‘’If not because of politics why will Michael Akufo stand somewhere and say the current Kotoko management is made of wicked people for what reason has any one offended him and is not only Akufo there has been comments and the truth is some Kotoko players have involved themselves in Kotoko politics.
He added ‘’As a player your basic duty is to train well and play your heart out for the club but unfortunately our political session has made it look like go out there and speak your mind and a big club like Kotoko you see players coming out to make some ‘unacceptable comments to disgrace the club entirely which at the long round turns to denigrate the club and you as a player who have had some stints with the brand [Kotoko] I am only hoping that those doing that will desist from such acts which doesn’t help a team like Kotoko’’.
