The new Head Coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh has revealed the criteria for being a captain in his Kotoko team and what went into his decision to pick the club’s new leaders.
Asante Kotoko announced Abdul Ganiyu as the new captain following the departure of Felix Annan a few weeks ago. Razak Abalora and Mudasiru were named assistant captains.
Performance, leadership and communication skills.
“The first is the performance on the field of play; if you look at Ganiyum he is with the Black Stars, he played so well last season. If you look at his leadership qualities, his ability to bring players together, his ability to communicate to them the culture of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, he is fantastic” Prosper Narteh said as quoted by Saharafootball.net.
He also revealed the qualities of Razak Abalora and Mudasiru Salifu that made him pick them as the assistant captains of the club.
“Similarly if you look at Abalora and Mudasiru, they all possess these qualities. When they have the armband on the field they can lead very well and protect the image of the club” he added.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently in Dubai for a pre-season training tour ahead of the Ghana Premier League season that kicks off October 29th.
