Former Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah has identified Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo as key players who can lead the Black Stars back to success.

Appiah believes the duo has the potential to step up and fill the void left by Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time top scorer, whose absence has left the team searching for a reliable attacking figure.

Acknowledging the challenge of replacing a player of Gyan’s stature, Appiah stated, “It’s a very tough task to replace someone of his calibre and quality. That type of striker and character is not produced that often.”

However, he remains optimistic about Kudus and Semenyo, pointing to their impressive club performances as a sign of their potential to become Ghana’s next attacking leaders.

“At this moment, you have a player like Kudus and potentially Semenyo, who are playing really well for their clubs. We’d hope they can eventually reach that level and show consistency for Ghana,” he told Flashscore.

With the Black Stars in search of a new talisman, Appiah is hopeful that Kudus and Semenyo can replicate their club form on the international stage and help restore Ghana’s dominance in African football.
