Former President, John Agyekum Kuffour has urged the Black Stars to qualify for the 2018 world cup which will be held in Russia.
The Stars had an unexpected start to the qualifiers, drawing their first game against Uganda.
But former President Kuffour whose tenure saw Ghana for her first qualifiers believe that the team has enough equality to make a fourth successive world cup appearance despite their disappointing game against the Cranes.
Speaking in an interview with Accra based Citi FM, the former Asante Kotoko chairman asserted that the challenge of getting the team to play as unified team is one confronting the team but he is adamant they will qualify for the mundial.
“Individually, our players are as good as you can find anywhere but the challenge is how to perform at a team. The players are drawn from different clubs with limited time to train so playing as team becomes difficult but am confident we will qualify. I have confidence in the team to sail through”. President Kuffour opined.
The Black Stars currently lie second in group E with a point following their underwhelming draw against Uganda. The team’s next game will be against the Pharaohs of Egypt next month
