The appeal was made during a meeting between officials of the GFA and the Ghana Police Service at the Police Headquarters in Accra. Discussions centered on strengthening security measures at match venues and promoting accountability within Ghanaian football.

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to ensure justice is served in the case of the late Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley.

Nana Pooley, a devoted supporter of Asante Kotoko, was tragically killed during a Ghana Premier League fixture in early 2025 — an incident that sent shockwaves through the football fraternity and reignited concerns about fan safety. More than a year on, the matter remains in court.

Okraku emphasised the need for closure, stating that delivering justice to the deceased’s family would help restore public confidence in football administration and stadium security systems. He stressed that safeguarding supporters is a collective duty shared by the FA and law enforcement agencies.

In response, the IGP reaffirmed the Police Service’s dedication to ensuring security at football matches and supporting the legal process to guarantee transparency and fairness in all football-related matters.
