James Kwasi Appiah has been mentioned by top governament officials and the Ghana Football Association as potential replacement for Otto Addo as Black Stars coach with barely 72 days to the Summer 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The news come after the Ghana Football Association, GFA’s decision to part ways with Otto Addo effective immediately.
Addo’s immediate sacking follows the Black Stars’s pre-world Cup international friendlies defeats against Austria and Germany.
Ghana were beaten 5:1 by Austria last Friday in Viena before suffering another 2:1 loss against Germany on Monday night in Stuttgart.
Announcing the former Ghana international’s exit, the Association said “The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,”.
“The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.” The statement added.
Meanwhile, SportsworldGhana.com understands that coach 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗞𝘄asi 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗵 who currently manages the Sudanese National team is an early favourite to be interim coach to prepare the team for the global showpiece.
