Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has cast doubt on the ability of Black Stars coach Otto Addo to manage Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview, he stated that even if Ghana secures qualification, Otto Addo does not have the qualities needed to lead the team to success on the global stage.
Addo, who was reappointed in March 2024 on a three-year deal, has come under criticism following Ghana’s early exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team finished bottom of their group. Despite this, he has guided the Black Stars to the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers with 19 points after eight matches.
Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, however, maintained that results alone are not enough, insisting the team needs stronger technical direction if it is to make an impact in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Ghana will wrap up its qualification campaign in October with crucial matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
