Spanish La Liga side Valencia are reportedly considering a move for Ghanaian centre-back Jerome Opoku as part of a planned summer defensive overhaul. The 27-year-old, currently plying his trade at Istanbul Basaksehir, has caught the eye of the struggling La Liga club, which sits 17th in the league table.

Sources indicate that Valencia have made initial contact with Basaksehir to explore the possibility of a transfer, and the club is reportedly willing to meet the Turkish side’s €8 million valuation. Valencia are understood to be planning a four-year contract for Opoku, with an annual salary of around €2.75 million.

Opoku joined Basaksehir in June 2024 on a contract running until 2027, and his performances in Turkey have drawn attention from other European clubs. His market value is estimated at €5 million, and Premier League sides such as Fulham and Nottingham Forest have also shown interest, suggesting a competitive market if Basaksehir decide to sell.

While no formal offer has been lodged yet, Valencia’s early approach signals their intent to act quickly once the summer transfer window opens. In the meantime, the Spanish club remains focused on their domestic campaign, preparing for their 21st La Liga fixture against Espanyol.

The potential acquisition of Opoku forms part of a broader strategy to stabilise Valencia’s squad and improve results in upcoming seasons, with the club eager to secure reinforcements before the start of the 2026/27 season.
