Lawrence Ati-Zigi produced a remarkable performance over the weekend, guiding St Gallen to a hard-fought goalless draw against FC Basel in the Swiss top-flight.
The Ghanaian goalkeeper played the entire match at the St. Jakob-Park, where his brilliance kept St Gallen in the game. He pulled off six vital saves, including a decisive penalty stop against Xherdan Shaqiri in the 52nd minute, ensuring his side returned home with a valuable point.
His exceptional display earned him the highest match rating of 9.1, highlighting his influence throughout the contest.
Ati-Zigi, who has made 13 league appearances this season with five clean sheets, continues to show consistency for his club. Despite conceding 16 goals so far, he remains one of St Gallen’s most reliable performers.
The former Red Bull Salzburg goalkeeper is determined to reclaim his starting spot in the Black Stars after recently losing that position to Benjamin Asare. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, he is aiming to maintain his form and strengthen his chances of earning a place in Ghana’s squad for the global showpiece.
