Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingston says newly appointed black stars Coach CK Akunnor could have to been offered a three to five year contract in other to get the best out of him.
The former Asante Kotoko and Ashgold trainer succeeded Kwasi Appiah and it’s expected to guide Ghana to an AFCON title glory next year in Cameroun.
He is also been tasked to secure qualification to the 2022 world cup in Qatar. He has been given a two deal by the FA to achieve all these successes.
But Speaking to Starr Sports Laryea Kingston who mentioned that coaches appointed to lead the Black Stars should be given enough time to succeed.
He believes CK Akunnor, will need at least three to five years to chalk success with the team.
“They should give coaches some time because sometimes when you are building a team , at least you will need like 3 to 5 years that’s when the players will understand your philosophy ,what you are bring on board and other things”
“The first two , three months for you being with the players ,you will do a lot of talking but after that they will understand your daily per iodization when you are per iodizing your training programme weekly ,monthly and yearly ,they will understand what you want to bring on board” he told Starr Sports
“So for me I think three years would have been good for him and then we monitor how he is faring and within that time we will see the sort of legacy he will bring on board within that period for the players and the whole country” he added.
