Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan is set to start his first Ghana Premier League this season for his team Legon Cities FC as they face giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC tonight.
The 35-year-old former Sunderland FC striker joined the Legon-based team ahead of the 2020-21 season in Ghana after his move to Kotoko could not go through due to the difference in valuation by both teams.
Gyan has featured twice out of four matches for the Royals this campaign but has not yet registered his name on the goal scorers sheet since his move.
The all-time top goal scorer for Ghana’s Black Stars has not played full throttle for his team yet but came on from the bench to impress against title contenders Medeama SC and Dreams FC respectively.
After featuring twice for the Royals, everything looks set for the vastly experienced striker to start a game for the first time in his Legon Cities career this evening as they come up against his once ‘dream team’ Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.
With his abilities techniques, tricks and goal-scoring prowess, Gyan is expected to solve the problem of goal scoring for the Royals who are yet to win a game after four games.
Gyan will face his favorite Ghanaian team this evening at 6pm at the Accra Sports Stadium for the week five encounter between the two teams who both play their home matches at the same venue.
The game will be live on Pay Per View TV Broadcasters, StarTimes on Channel 247 and StarTimes ON App respectively.
