Legon cities will take on the Scientific Soccer Lads this evening at the Accra Sports Stadium in a battle to avoid the relegation drop zone.
Both sides are in dire needs of points to avoid the relegation zone as the Ghana Premier League heats up on match day 24. Liberty professional have been anything more than abysmal this season, the usually mid- table club have only amassed a total of 25 point from 23 games so far. The Dansoman based club have won three games in 5 games in a rejuvenation bid to avoid relegation.
Legon Cities on the other have only flattered to deceive after the show of financial power to bring in Asamoah Gyan, Hans Kwoffie and Victorien Adebayor. Formally known as Wa All Stars, the club has endured a very torrid time with virtually nothing to show even after changes in the coaching department. Bashiru Hayford’s side have only won a single game out seven games plunging them to 16th on the log with a paltry 23 points.
Legon Cities were cruising to victory in their last game against Dwarfs, but unfortunately the match had to be interrupted as the referees on the day abandoned the game due to threats on their life.
The game is expected to live up to expectation as rumours are widespread that Ghanaian legend Asamoah Gyan will be given his first start of the season against the side he first featured for in the Premier league seventeen years ago. Hans Kwofie and Nigerian import Victorien Adebayor will be looking to find the back of the net to help push their club out of relegation.
The match is scheduled at 6pm at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.
