German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have expressed interest in signing promising Ghanaian defender Kojo Peprah Oppong from Swedish club IFK Norrköping, sources close to the player have confirmed.
The 20-year-old has been making waves in Sweden with a string of assured performances, earning him a growing reputation as one of the most exciting young African defenders in Europe. A product of Ghanaian second-tier side Attram De Visser Soccer Academy, Oppong made the move to Norrköping and has quickly adapted to the demands of European football.
Leipzig’s interest adds to an already competitive race for the highly rated centre-back, with Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and Galatasaray all previously linked to the youngster.
Oppong is admired for his composure on the ball, positional awareness, and physical strength — attributes that align well with Leipzig’s high-pressing, fast-paced style. The German club is known for nurturing young talents, particularly from Africa, and sees Oppong as a strong long-term investment.
With Leipzig now formally monitoring the player, a summer move could be on the cards, depending on negotiations and Norrköping’s valuation.
For Ghanaian football fans, the rapid rise of Kojo Peprah Oppong is another sign of the growing impact of academies like Attram DiVisser, which continue to produce talent ready for the global stage.
