Former Ghana international, Mohammed Polo has pleaded with Ghanaians to show support to head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor following Monday’s defeat.
Akonnor has come under heavy criticism after the Black Stars lost to South Africa by a goal to nil in the second of the 2022 World Cup qualifying series.
Ghana opened their qualifying campaign with a slim 1-0 win over Ethiopia last Friday before facing the Bafana Bafana team on Monday, and the team’s performances in the two games have been far from convincing as some football fanatics call for the head of the gaffer.
However, Polo has urged Ghanaians to stick with the former Black Stars midfielder rather than turning attention to foreign coaches.
“Ghanaians should support C.K Akonnor because it’s never too late. The current players in the Black Stars are the best he has now,” Polo told OTEC FM.
“Let support him and see the way forward. Let’s support our own because the foreign coaches only come and spend our money” He added.
C.K Akonnor has been in charge of 10 games for the Black Stars since taking over and has only managed four wins during that time, a performance many feel should see him given the exit by now.
