Legon Cities attacker Asamoah Gyan has taken a swipe as section of the Asante Kotoko fans and supporters after receiving boos and whistles from them during Cities home defeat to the Porcupine Warriors on Saturday.
The Ghana legend had made several public promises in the past to play for Kotoko once he returns from abroad but that did not happen, something that angered some fans of the club.
During the league meeting at the Accra sports stadium, Africa’s all-time topscorer at the FIFA World Cup was introduced into the game at the 75th minute by coach Bashiru Hayford but Gyan was roundly booed and whistled by the Kotoko fans who attended the game.
“I am advising them that the same way they booed me, when they go abroad or travel outside they should mention the name of their players. They should not mention my name because I am not part of the Kotoko team. I play for Legon Cities.” a livid Gyan said.
“What they did show that they are hypocrites. You cannot boast with my name when you travel outside Ghana and then come to the stadium to boo me” he added.
Gyan is a known Kotoko supporter and his Paradise Pac mineral water recently were sponsors of the club.
