Asante Kotoko is reportedly heading toward a significant leadership restructuring, with life patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expected to appoint a new board to replace the club’s current Interim Management Committee (IMC).
According to Kessben Sports, the IMC — chaired by Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah — has managed the club since the dissolution of the Kwame Kyei-led board in 2023. However, sources within the club indicate growing dissatisfaction among top hierarchy members over the committee’s performance, with plans underway to dissolve it in March.
The decision is believed to be influenced largely by financial challenges, particularly the IMC’s struggles to generate sufficient internal revenue to sustain the club’s operations.
Reports by Kickgh.com suggest that the incoming board will be led by prominent businessmen Kwasi Osei Ofori and Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, who are expected to unveil a new management structure and supervise the club’s affairs over the next five years.
Both individuals are familiar figures within Kotoko’s administration, having previously served on the club’s board before its dissolution in 2023. During their earlier tenure, they reportedly invested more than GH¢2 million into the club and provided vehicles for the technical team, demonstrating strong financial and logistical support.
Mr. Osei Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure International, brings over 40 years of business experience across construction, mining, and equipment rental operations in West Africa and Europe.
Meanwhile, Dr. Amoa-Abban, founder and CEO of Rigworld Group, is a leading figure in Ghana’s oil and gas industry, with business interests spanning engineering, shipping, energy services, and training operations across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
The anticipated changes signal a new administrative direction for the Porcupine Warriors as the club seeks stability and long-term growth both on and off the pitch.
