Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Chelsea teenager Tyrique George, with the English-born forward of Ghanaian heritage emerging as a potential target as planning begins for the next transfer window.
While United have remained largely inactive in the current January market, attention has already shifted toward long-term recruitment, especially following recent upheaval at Old Trafford that saw Ruben Amorim dismissed and Michael Carrick appointed interim head coach until the end of the season.
According to reports, United’s new recruitment structure—led by INEOS—favors players with Premier League experience, placing George firmly on their radar as Chelsea reassess their squad depth.
Chelsea Open to Letting George Go
The 19-year-old attacker is understood to be available for transfer, with Chelsea willing to listen to offers after George slipped out of the regular first-team picture. A switch from west London to the north west would come as a surprise, but one that could benefit both player and club.
George joined Chelsea’s academy at just eight years old and signed a fresh contract in June 2024, before making his senior debut only two months later. Despite his age, he has already amassed 37 first-team appearances, scoring six goals across competitions.
His strikes include goals in the Champions League against Ajax, the FIFA Club World Cup, and a crucial Premier League effort against Fulham that helped Chelsea push into Champions League qualification places.
Game Time Key to Decision
Despite those highlights, George’s Premier League involvement has been limited in recent months, with his last league appearance coming in October, a brief cameo in a defeat to Sunderland.
Manchester United could offer the highly-rated forward greater league exposure, rather than restricting him mainly to cup competitions—a factor believed to be central to George’s thinking as he weighs up his next move.
