Kumasi Asante Kotoko were held to 1 -1 draw by Berekum Chelsea in match day eight [8] of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The porcupine Warriors dropped two vital points after falling to secure victory over Berekum Chelsea.
Striker Latif Salifu, scored in the 38th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the first half after Goalkeeper Felix had pulled a brilliant save to deny him his first goal on the 30th minute.
Coach Paa Kwesi and his charges as usual didn’t create any decent chances worth scoring in the first half to cheer the few fans who thronged the stadium.
Kotoko responded quickly after recess through striker Frederick Boateng in the 47th minute to draw Kotoko level, scoring his second goal of the season.
Coach PaamKwesi Fabian in his quest to strengthen his midfield introduced Jordan Opoku into the game to replace Reindolf Akwasi after he had started piling continuous pressure on Berekem Chelsea with Obed Owusu paving way for striker Yakubu Mohammed.
Berekum Chelsea also effected some quick substitution when Augustine Henneh was brought on for Collins Ameyaw two minutes after referee Adaari Latif from Wa had denied the away side a good penalty after Owusu Addai was fouled in the Kotoko penalty box.
Goalkeeper, Gideon Ahenkorah perhaps hit his prime form when he made a wonderful second save to deny Yakubu Mohammed’s shot from entering the net.
Stephen Amankona wasted a fine opportunity which could have won the day for the blues when he cheaply slotted the ball into the hands of Goalkeeper Felix Annan in the penalty box.
Kotoko however, pushed for the winner but didn’t do enough to get them victory over the Berekum based club who whipped Hearts of Oak 3-1 in their last premier league encounter at the Golden City Park.
