The local-based Black Stars drew 1-1 with their Beninoise counterpart in an international friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The international friendly with Benin forms part of the team’s preparations for upcoming assignments which are the WAFU international tournament to be hosted in Ghana, as well as qualifiers for next year’s CAF CHAN tournament.
Ibrahim Ogoulola shot first the Beninoise in front on the 20th minute before Asante Kotoko defender Awal Mohameed levelled things up for Ghana on a minute away from half time after Hearts of Oak danger Patrick Razak was fouled in the 18 yard box.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah had to make his first substitution when he brought on Aduana Stars forward Zakaria Mumuni to replace injured Joseph Paintsil of Tema Youth in the first half.
Benin nearly doubled their lead on the 37th minute but Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori made a quick double to deny the visitors of their second.
Kwesi Appiah with just a minute play in after recess made three substitutions by bringing on Stephen Sarfo, Joseph Esso and Emmanuel Lomotey to replace Derrick Sassraku, Winful Cobbinah and Gideon Waja respectfully.
Aboki Waris of Benin was brought on in the second half on 50th mark to replace colleague Osseni Ayid with Dah Atchefon Ulrich paving way for Koukpo Marcellin on the 79th minute.
Ghana kept the heat on the visitors forcing right back Osseni Ayide to commit another bookable offence to take an early shower given Ghana a numerical advantage.
Zakaria Mumuni had to pave way for Asante Kotoko winger Emmanuel Gyamfi in the last ten minutes of the game.
The Black Stars ‘B’ next international friendly will be against Egypt in Cairo on June 7.
