Asante Kotoko walloped Ghana’s Olympic team, the Black Meteors 3-0 on Sunday in a friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Captain Amos Frimpong’s double and one from Jordan Opoku ensured the Ghanaian giants defeated Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side ahead of their U-23 championship qualifiers against Togo.

The game forms part of Asante Kotoko’s preparations for the Caf Confederation Cup match against Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks next week.

Amos Frimpong put Kotoko in front in the first half  when he jumped the highest inside the Black Meteors penalty box to finish off Maxwell Baakoh’s fine cross before midfielder Jordan Opoku made it 2-0 for Kotoko after half time.

Kotoko played a dominant game in the second half after the introduction of Emmanuel Gyamfi and striker Songne Yacouba.

Their dominance paid off when Amos Frimpong converted a penalty after sprinter Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down in the 18-yard box to wrap up victory for Asante Kotoko.
