WAFA beat Asante Kotoko 2-0 on Wednesday in the Ghana Premier League week 24 outstanding fixture at the Rd Bull Arena to go top of the leapfrog Aduana Stars on the log.
The Sogakope based club capitalized on their outstanding fixture to surpass the Oga Lads with two points.
Goal kepper Felix Annan’s own goal and a sublime strike by Daniel Agbloe doubled WAFA’s lead to complete their 2-0 win on the day.
Kotoko did not give WAFA room to operate freely in the first half after midfielder Jackson Owusu battled it out with lifewire Gideon Waja.
The first half became a tough battle for both teams as none of them found target, ending the first forty-five minutes goalless.
Striker Yakubu Mohammed was wasteful as usual in the first half when he skied some gracious chances Kotoko had which when scored could have given his the lead.
The Academy boys looked better back from recess when they mounted unavoidable pressure on Kotoko in their bid to break the deadlock.
The efforts came into fruition when Prince Ampem’s strike bounced off Felix Annan for an own goal.
Baba Mahama failed to leave up to expectation and had to be replaced by Prince Acquah in the second half with Frank Sarfo Gyamfi coming on for Obed Owusu.
