Medeama SC’s influential midfielder Prince Owusu has been handed a call-up to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The 20-year-old has been rewarded for his outstanding form in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, where his consistent performances have been pivotal to Medeama’s impressive run of results.
Owusu, who made his senior international debut against the Central African Republic in the penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, has continued to grow in stature as one of the most promising midfielders in the domestic league.
A technically gifted left-footed midfielder, Owusu combines energy and intelligence in his play. His tireless pressing, sharp passing, and positional awareness have made him the heartbeat of Medeama’s midfield, helping the Mauve and Yellow climb to second place on the league table — just one point behind leaders Aduana FC.
Last season, Owusu made 22 league appearances, scoring once and providing two assists, while anchoring the midfield with maturity beyond his years. His development has not gone unnoticed by national selectors, who view him as one of the brightest young talents in the Ghanaian top flight.
Owusu joins a competitive midfield unit led by Thomas Partey and Kwesi Sibo for the Asian tour, where Ghana will face Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before taking on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The upcoming friendlies present another key opportunity for Owusu to showcase his quality on the international stage and strengthen his case for inclusion in Otto Addo’s squad ahead of Ghana’s fifth FIFA World Cup appearance in Canada, Mexico, and the United States in 2026.
