Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus suffered a rib injury from the World Cup qualifier between Ghana and South Africa on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The 21-year-old midfielder will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
If the scan brings bad news, Kudus returns to Ajax injured. The midfielder has already had to deal with injuries since his move to the Amsterdam club.
He was out of action for a long time last season due to a knee injury. In the current season, he struggled with an ankle injury for several weeks.
For the away match against RKC Waalwijk on Sunday, there is in any case a question mark behind the name of Kudus. That match may not be played at all next weekend, as a majority of clubs want the Eredivisie to be shut down.
The KNVB is making an inventory of all opinions and is first investigating whether a suspension is possible.
