Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu delivered a commanding performance to earn the Man of the Match award in AS Monaco’s 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw against Pafos.
Although a late deflection off Salisu resulted in an own goal that levelled the match, UEFA’s Technical Observer rated him the best performer on the night. The centre-back played the full 90 minutes and was key in keeping the French side in control for most parts of the game.
Monaco started brightly, taking the lead just five minutes in through Takumi Minamino. Pafos responded after 13 minutes when former Chelsea defender David Luiz headed home from a corner.
Monaco restored their advantage eight minutes later as Folarin Balogun capitalised on an error by goalkeeper Neofytos Michail.
With two minutes to go, Ivan Sunjic struck the bar, and the rebound unfortunately deflected off Salisu into the net, sealing the draw.
Both teams now sit with one win, three draws, and one defeat after five Champions League matches this season.
