Ghanaian international, Mubarak Wakaso has showed appreciation to former Black Stars head head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor after he was axed by the Ghana Football Association.
Akonnor was relieved of his duties on Monday following a series of poor performances in the dugouts for the senior national team.
The former Kotoko gaffer won just four out of 10 games in charge of Ghana, including a 1-0 start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers over Ethiopia. However, a loss to South Africa triggered wild discussions beofre he was shown the exit by the football association.
Taking to his social media page after the sacking of the coach, Wakaso recalled the good times with C.K Akonnor while also thanking him for the opportunities he gave him.
when I was a little boy in Tamale I watched you play football.
Later, I became a ball boy/ player for Gold Fields where you played. You became my coach at the Black Stars. Thank you for everything and best of luck in your next job. I know you will succeed @akonnor_ck pic.twitter.com/L5vbINeWZI
