Asante Kotoko are through to the last four of the NC Special Competition Tier 2 after recording a resounding 2-1 victory against high-flying Berekum Arsenal at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Berekum Arsenal after kicking regional side Aduana Stars FC out of the competition,failed to their test against Asante Kotoko as they were humbled by CK Akonnor’s side.
Guinean forward Naby Keita Laye and Kwame Boahene scored a goal each as the Porcupine Warriors cruise to crucial home win.
Kwame Boahene had to tap in on a loose ball inside the box after Emmanuel Gyamfi laboured his markers on the right flank and laid a pass which was blocked by goalkeeper Osei Yaw. Keita pounced on the spilled ball and buried home to the delight of the home crowd.
The former Medeama winger however, sealed the win for Kotoko minutes after when he fed on a deflected pass from Emmanuel Gyamfi and finished off with a stunning bicycle kick to give the home side a 2-0 victory.
Ebenezer Aboagye reduced the deficit for Arsenal after Ibrahim Danlad let out a loose ball and Aboagye got out of the goalmouth melee to hit past the former Ghana U-17 keeper in Kotoko’s post.
The Porcupine Warriors are also billed to face arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the semifinal stage of the NC Special Competition Premier League on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium while Ashgold host Karela United FC at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.
