AshantiGold SC sealed passage to the semi-finals of the Special Competition Tier 2 after posting a 1-0 win against Medeama SC at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
Striker Shafiu Mumuni’s solitary goal was all that the Miners needed to book qualification to the last four of the competition.
Mumuni could have given the hosts the lead in the 26th minute but had his point blank header hit the framework with a rebound going wide.
Goalkeeper Frank Boateng made a fantastic save four minutes later to deny Medeama SC the opener.
AshantiGold SC finally got the needed match winner nine minutes after break with Mumuni attractively connecting a cross from Godfred Asiamah on the left.
The Mauve and Yellow however, took charge of the game after conceding in the early stages of the second half but their efforts couldn’t pay off as the home team sealed a 1-0 narrow victory over them.
Tahiru Awudu had a great opportunity to put Medeama SC on level but he missed the sitter few minutes away from full-time.
Meanwhile Unistar Academy remain determined to make impact in the competition and have recorded another win.
Exceptionally talented attacker Obuoba Dasi got on the mark once again and he netted his third goal of the campaign for the Kasoa-based side.
Unistar exhibited their superiority and confidence as they posted a 3-1 win over Proud United.
In the last fixture Nzema Kotoko emerged victors over Kpando Heart of Lions after beating Gborgbolegi Boys 4-1 on penalties.
