Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Nigel Owusu has expressed excitement after joining Dutch Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag on a two-year deal from AZ Alkmaar.
The 17-year-old left-back has signed a contract at the Cars Jeans Stadium until mid-2022, with an option for another season.
Owusu took his first steps on the football field at Zeeburgia, where he stood out to such an extent that he was picked up by Ajax in 2012. Three seasons later, the left-back made the switch to AZ, where he is now closing the door behind him.
The Dutch-Ghanaian football player will be hoping to write a new chapter in his still early career at ADO Den Haag. Given his age, he can play for both the Under 18 and the Under 21.
It feels like a great opportunity for Owusu, who signed his first contract on Wednesday in the presence of family.
“I have a good feeling about the conversations with ADO Den Haag. The club’s plan is right. I was also welcomed.
”I feel right at home. ADO Den Haag is a great club with a rich history and a fanatical following ”, says Owusu.
He added that: “I am a left back who is comfortable on the ball and likes to come on. I also stand defensive given my position. ”
