Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has cautioned Ghanaian football fans not to get ahead of themselves regarding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting that it is too early to start thinking about qualification.
Ghana solidified their position at the top of Group I with a commanding 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday in their Matchday 5 encounter.
The Black Stars now turn their attention to their crucial Matchday 6 fixture against Madagascar, set to take place at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco tonight. A victory would further enhance Ghana’s chances of securing a spot at the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
However, Otto Addo, 49, emphasized the need for patience and focus, urging his players and supporters to take it one game at a time.
“Nobody should be thinking about the World Cup yet. We need to take it step by step. It’s very, very important that we stay focused until the job is done,” Addo stated.
Ghana currently leads Group I with 12 points, with Madagascar trailing closely behind on 10. The four-time African champions are aiming to secure their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
